For the Medicare reimbursement of up to $48,000, the term eligible professional refers only to physicians as defined by section 1861( r) of the Social Security Act. For the Medicaid reimbursement of up to $65,000, the term eligible professional includes not only physicians but a broad list of health care practitioners and therapists.
